Ceferino and Diosdado were contemporaries. Ceferino is known today as the 4th generation leader of the Dulay Clan of Marikina, while Diosdado became the president of the Philippines. Both were descendants of Lakan Dula, the pre – Hispanic King of Manila, based in Tondo, Manila. Of the two, Ceferino is younger. When Diosdado ran for president, Ceferino moved around the known settlements of Lakan Dula descendants. He spent time with then Mayor Eleuterio Dulay, of Laoang, Northern Samar to make sure that Diosdado will win in Samar Island. When Diosdado won, he placed Ceferino in a job in Manila City Hall, near his home in Tondo.
Several years later, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, daughter of Diosdado is leading the EDSA Dos against President Erap Estrada. Sofronio, eldest son of Ceferino and the 5th generation leader of Dulay Clan of Marikina, resigned as the leader of Estrada’s PMP Chairman’s Forum and helped in the efforts of Gloria in EDSA Dos. While the struggle is going on in EDSA, Yoko Ramos, a private secretary of Gloria called on Sofronio telling him that Gloria will visit the ancestral house of the Dulay Clan of Marikina Valley and they will talk about some plans. The Dulay Clan of Marikina, while fighting in EDSA Dos, eagerly waited for the talk of their clan leader and Gloria. The fight was won, Gloria was sworn in as President of the Philippine Islands but she never visited the Dulay Ancestral House up to now. Buti pa nga si MMDA Chairman Bayani Fernando, Congressman Marcy Teodoro, Monsignor Mariano Balbago, PMA Alumni Butch Cabanban, PMA class baron Ace Esmeralda, Br. Blas Dula Lagrimas of Recoletos School of Theology, Manny Alvarez, Bob Servino, Mayor Marides Fernando, PSupt Fortunato Guerrero, Kag. Manolo Estanisalo,Vice Mayor Marion Andres, realtor Demy Posadas, PNOC -EC Director Ralph Mangubat, Kap.
Gloria, the president and Sofronio, a clan leader met several times in Malacanan Palace on different occasions, but Sofronio did not bother Gloria anymore about that supposed to be visit of Gloria to the Dulay Clan of Marikina. Sofronio did not even introduce himself nor ask personally for any favor from Gloria, Gloria did not offer Sofronio anything in relation to his role in EDSA Dos. Yoko Ramos resigned from the palace. Gloria is different from Diosdado..
Gloria is about to finished her term as Philippine president. Sofronio, a long time management professor of the Far Eastern University near Tondo, finished his Master in Development Management in the Asian Institute of Management and had been elected as one of the Board of Directors of the Asian Institute of Management Alumni Association. He is pursuing a doctorate in Public Administration in the University of the Philippines. He had been offered consultancy stint by Marikina City Mayor Marides Fernando, Marikina Congressman Marcy Teodoro and Northern Samar Congressman Emil Ong.
The Macapagal Clan of Pampanga and the Dulay Clan of Marikina, although both sharing common Lakan Dula heritage, has a history of “warm and cold interactions” among their leaders and descendants. Gloria Arroyo is not in control or not aware of what is happening within the clans of the descendants of Lakan Dula. Some clans are even questioning if the Macapagals are really descendants of Lakan Dula of Tondo.
The Dulay Clan of Marikina, amidst prosperity, influence and educational progress wishes to stay in the old tradition of chivalry. Sofronio I is grooming his legal heir, Sofronio ll as the 6th generation and future leader of the clan. Sofronio ll is an honor student of an exclusive boy school, a sacristan and a rugged basketball player in the barangay leagues in Marikina Heights and San Roque. Sofronio l told his son: “Someday, if ever there will be a chance for the Macapagal clan to help the Dulay clan in a reverse role, be as gentleman as Diosdado.”
This morning, Jun Salvador visited the leader of the Dulay Clan of Marikina and told him that a group of a descendant of Philippine hero Dr. Pio Valenzuela would like to meet him. The consolidation of the Lakan Dula descendants goes on as usual.

Sofronio, in fairness to Gloria, maybe when you met her in Malacanan, you should have reminded her of her visit to the clan house. Maybe, that is not her intention. In fact, you should help her run this government because she needs support from people like you.
Mr. Dulay, this is Ms. Yoko Ramos. I happen to chance upon this site and was surprised to read it. Congratulations on your many achievements. Should you wish to get in touch with me, my email add is yokoramos@gmail.com. And by the way, I am with PGMA again. God bless.

Hi, I am Jenny Dulay of Aringay, La Union. My Lolo used to tell me that we are descendants of Lakan Dula of Tondo and we have relatives in Marikina and a certain Island in Samar. I am very happy that we are now getting in touch with each other. May I send you an email Miguelito?
We are happy that our clan are growing. We from La Union were not able to fight against Marcos in EDSA 1. Malayo dito. But we are happy to read in Manila Times that the leader of our clan was there. We also fought Erap in EDSA Dos, at least, our leaders from Marikina. If ever Joe De Venecia and the Group of Almonte impeach Gloria and initiate another EDSA, which side is the Dulay Clan? We are always on the side of the truth because of the tradition of chivalry that we have, pero, ang makakalaban na natin is a president who claims that he is also one of us in Lakan Dula. Pano yan? In fact, I noticed that in the Wikipedia, a proof/citation is being asked of them to prove that they are really decendants of Lakan Dula. Pano na ngayon yan? Boy Bagsik
Dear Dulay Clan Members;
Dapat we should maintain our tradition of chivalry by siding with the people and with the truth in the coming showdown between the forces of FG/GMA/Kampi versus the forces of FVR/Noli de Castro/Lakas NUCD.
We should not consider PGMA to be part of Lakan Dula heritage yet until they are able to provide the proper citation being asked by the Wikipedia.
The Dulay Clan of the Lakan Dula heritage, has fought Marcos and Erap because we sided with the Filipino people.
Fighting for the Filipino people is the basis of our tardition of chivalry.
Granting that Presedent Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is not really a descendant of Lakan Dula. But we should be thankful of her for popularizing the Lakan Dula heritage. Maybe we should declare her as honorary member of our clan.
better for diosdado macapagal, but for gloria? i think she is unsuitable even she can call herself a distant relative.
I wonder why are we letting Wikipedia to demand Gloria Arroyo to produce a citation of proof of their lineage to Lakan Dula. Alam nyo, I read some articles na Wikipedia daw is dominated by satanists editors. In fact, try typing Wikipedia Satanists in Google and you will see what I mean.
Erap was supported by the Dulay Clan of Marikina when he run for vice president in 1992 until the time he run for President and won. But after winning, Erap neglected the CLAN. Erap was booted out of office and was convicted.
GMA was supported by the Dulay Clan of Marikina, as a senator, vice president and against Erap. But after she assumed the Presidency, she neglected the CLAN. Will GMA be booted out also, and be convicted of crimes later?
MAY SUMPA KAYA SI LAKAN DULA?

Greetings,
I was wondering if there is a genealogy map for Lakan Dula's descendants?
My family has this story that we are the descendants of Lakan Dula.(My last name is Lacandalo)
That the Lacandalos were first Lakandulas, then changed their names because the Spanish persecuted them.
My grandfather died before i was born but my father and uncles tell me that
the Lacandalos fled to Zamboanga because it's in a remote part of the country and the Spanish authorities in Luzon didn't really have real power there.
Just curious about my ancestry...
Thanks
Rafael Karlo C. Lacandalo
Rafael, thanks for the email. Maybe, you are a descendant of Lakan Dula, kasi ganun nga ang history eh, the descendants are sent to far flung areas on sea routes and they are instructed to change their names to avoid Spanish prosecution.
As the titular head of the Dulay Clan of Marikina, I personally have a gut feel na you are really one of us. Anyway, just to express the clans happiness for your effort to search for our common ancestry, we will include the name Lacandalo in the list in our website.
Be posted accordingly. Someday,if you go to Marikina Valley, please visit our ancestral house and we will dine in an antique plate handed down to us - the lineage of the eldest son - from the Lakan Dula household. "Dine with Ancestors Ceremony" is one of our traditions.

Hi! I had a chance to read the page that contains facts on Lakan Dula's descendants and I was so fascinated. i knew long ago the tale about his descendants that were scattered all over the Philippines but i didn't know that my family was connected to so many people in different names. I live in Iligan City right now but my Father's birthplace is in Zamboanga City. heheheh..
I'm still overwhelmed by the article.

Hi Franco, nice to receive your email. We are happy that we are slowly connecting. May we advise you to cherish your family history, specially your link to Lakan Dula. What you can do maybe is to try to research the lineage of the first born in the Lacandalo line. You see, it is part of the tradition of our pre hispanic heritage to annoint the first born as a the traditional leader of a family, so, if you could trace the first born of your line up to the present, then, the traditional leadership lineage of your family/clan would had been restored. In the case of the Dulay Clan of Marikina Valley, the lineage of our first born son has been traced down to sixth generation, with me as the 5th generation first born son and my son as the 6th generation first born son. We are the lineage of the first born sons in the Dulay Clan of Marikina Valley. Our research on our first born from me down to Lakan Dula is still on going.
You may visit this blog also once in a while.
Thanks

Professor Dulay:
I am writing to you today as I stumbled on some history looking for my aunt that I wish to visit during a trip to Las Angels, CA. If it is true that I am descendent of the noble family Lakan Dula, I would like to learn more about the family history. It is quite interesting as my wife just happens to be from Spain.
I am the son of Peter Diaz Dulay, Jr., who is son of Peter Dulay of the Philippines of Baguio City (as I understand his father may have been a general in the army) . My father was born in 1915, he served as the armed guard of the president during WWII and later fought the Japanese.
Would you be so kind and let me know if there is a possibility of the family linkage. I am planning a trip the Japan in May and would love to visit the Philippines.
I also notice we are in the same field of work and are pursuing academics in policy.
I look forward to an exchange in the future.
Kind regards,
